About us

We bought our farm in 2013 and always dreamed of building a farm that would be passed on to the next generations of the Martin family. Together with our young children we naturally and ethically raise our animals and produce the highest quality nutritious beef from our farm to your table.

Not only do we take pride in raising hormone and antibiotic-free animals, but our farm operates under a certified Canada-Ontario Environmental Farm Plan, which helps protect our environment through the use of sustainable farming practices.

When you buy directly from Long Lane Acres, you’re not only supporting local but also minimizing the distance your food travels to get to you, and tasting how good locally raised meat taste, you’ll benefit from cost savings and transparency in knowing exactly how and where your meat was raised.

OUR HERD

Our Herd

ALL OUR CATTLE ARE HORMONE, STEROID
AND ANTIBIOTIC FREE.

Our herd consists of a variety of beautiful Simmental, Charolais, and Angus cows. They are bred to our Charolais and Shorthorn bulls providing us with excellent growth rates with nice white fat and excellent marbling.

We calve during the spring and early summer months in our barn and in May they are sent out to graze our pastures, using a rotational grazing system to maintain the health of the grass and the cattle. In the fall and winter months our cows eat dry hay. Our yearlings are fed a mix of corn, grain, and haylage in the barn to finish growing. All the hay, corn, and crops that are fed to our animals are all grown and harvested by us.
